Sketch a beat in sixteen steps.

Eight synthesised voices, four patterns and a swing control. Tap a step once to play it and again to accent it. Your beat lives in the page link, so you can copy it and send it to someone.

How it works

Playing

Each row is a voice and each column is a sixteenth note. Steps cycle off, on and accent. Select a track name to hear it and choose it for the track tools. M mutes a track; S solos it.

Patterns

Choosing a pattern while the beat plays waits for the bar to finish, like a hardware sequencer. Chain plays every pattern with notes in turn and skips empty ones.

Under the hood

The sounds are built in real time from oscillators, filtered noise and envelopes with the Web Audio API. A look-ahead scheduler keeps timing steady. Export renders four bars offline to a WAV file on your device. The beat is saved only in the page link; the colour theme is the one setting stored in your browser.
